You replaced your concrete counter on that little bar area?

I'd probably have added an upper to the area between the window and the sliding door. You going to build a divider for next to the fridge to give it a finished look?

I replaced the entire bar. The concrete top is in my sinkhole, and the original bar cabinet was taken to the dump a few weeks ago. The new bar has seating for two on both sides, and is not as long...the opening there is 38" now, and used to be only 30".

The fridge will get a full panel on both sides. They are already cut in the garage. All of my cabinets with exposed ends will also get an end panel. The upper cabs end panel will go down to the bottom of the light rail, and the lower cabs end panel will go to the floor. I want the edge of the end panels to be flush with the surface of the doors, so I dont want to cut them until I get the doors/fronts installed, so that my panels are dead on.

Ive pretty much decided not to put a cabinet there. That cabinet was always kind of a pain to use, and we have more cabinet space than before, so we dont need the extra storage. Im planning on adding a little shelf with a light underneath to match the rest of the undercab lighting, and hanging some sort of big round clock above it.

BTW, sink #2 is awesome. I thought we would like it and it would be useful, and I severely underestimated how wonderful it really is for how we use our kitchen.

You doing pull out garbage at the end of the penninsula? Sometimes I wish I had a prep sink, but I think I'd need a larger kitchen to make it really work. Hell, I wish I had a larger kitchen anyway... Give me another 6' of length, and I'd be happy.

Yeah, I havent built the pullout yet, but it will be there. That piece of the peninsula is pretty much our main usable area, whether we are making dinner, or wifey is making baby food, or opening mail, just general use and seems like we generate a ton of trash, and it will drop nicely right into the can. The trash used to be in the bottom half of the pantry closet, and it was annoying to have to carry trash over there, plus, I didnt like trash and food being in the same spot.

We dont use the second sink as prep for cooking, but it makes for a nice drink station. All of our coffee, wine, liquors, etc are all over there along with mugs, wine/drink glasses, travel mugs. It all now has its own place and doesnt crowd the main sink. That is what I hated so much, how the coffee pots used to creep up on the main sink. Im happy with how it turned out.

I'd love more space. Too bad the room isnt 16'x16' instead of 12'x16'.

Why the decision to go with non-face frame / Euro cabinets over face frame cabinets? Do you just like the overall look better? Also, what materials did you use on the backs, sides and shelves? Melamine or an ACX / finish plywood? Are you brush painting, spraying or rolling the exposed wood?

finished pics??!
:( Not yet. I am waiting on the quote for the doors, drawer fronts, and drawer boxes. I am hoping to get them ordered in the next couple of days, then probably 3-4 weeks till they show up, and then probably take me a couple weeks to get them all stained, lacquered, and installed.

There were several reasons I went euro/frameless style.

I prefer a more modern look. However, most of the look is due to the style of doors/drawer fronts, but with frameless you have also have a very small reveal between any doors/fronts, but with framed, you typically have a larger reveal, which I consider to be more traditional.

More usable interior space. On any given face framed cabinet, you lose both width and height for drawers because of the frame. With frameless, your drawer slides are attached directly to the side of the box, and you maximize your space. If you have a 20" wide frameless cabinet, your drawer width will be 17.5", a 20" wide framed cabinet that uses 2" wide frames will leave you with a drawer that is 15" wide.

Building frameless cabs in the garage is faster because you dont have to glue and clamp face frames. You just cut and assemble.

Frameless cabs are sectional. You dont make any cabinets larger than 36" wide. With framed, you can do 8-10' runs, and those can get heavy and awkward to move. Frameless cabs are lighter and very easy to move around and install by yourself.

Frameless cabs you only use two materials for the box, 3/4" for the sides/top/bottom and 1/4 for the backs. For framed, you also have to include the face frames, so framed are slightly more expensive.

There are some benefits to framed cabinets as well, and you can easily take every argument I made and counter with framed having some benefit. Overall, I just liked the frameless better.

I used 3/4" maple plywood for the top/bottom/sides, and 1/4" maple ply for the backs, the good stuff (not from China which is what you get at Lowes and HD). I got it a at local lumber yard.

I stained it, and then sprayed on lacquer, and will be doing the same for the doors/drawer fronts.

Well that took long enough. I got 15 of 18 drawers built and installed (have to slightly modify the cab for the last three drawers). I ordered the drawers, 3/4" maple w/ dovetail, and 1/4" bottoms, but they were shipped RTA. Probably start staining the doors and drawer fronts this weekend.

Straight out of 1964! Planning on starting the remo/reno after Labor Day.

Currently have wall oven and a stovetop. Although difficult to see, the stovetop actually extends over the 45deg joint in the corner, and that upper right cabinet hits the range when you open it. It annoys me greatly. Not to mention, when you walk in the back door, it is like a tunnel with the cabinets and the fridge/pantry area. I want to open it up a little and center a range over there instead with countertop prep space on either side, and cabinets above.

Planning on tearing out pantry, and replacing with a cabinet instead. This will allow for a wider and less deep fridge...as you can see, it juts out. Probably put cabinets above fridge as well. The fridge just really doesnt fit there very well, its too big.

Ah, the unused countertop space. We keep the microwave over there, and yes, it is a pain because you have to walk over there with stuff. Planning on hanging one over the range, simply because there isnt anywhere else good to put it. Lesser of two evils compared to where it is now. I am considering putting a small sink in the middle of this area, and using this as a built-in bar area...coffee supplies, wine fridge, drink makings, etc.

Bar and countertop will be replaced to match the rest.

Well that took long enough. As always, a few minor things to complete.

Yeah, he likes to watch the birds, and garbage trucks, and school buses, and pretty much anything else.

128mm, or just over 5" for the hole spacing, add in the overhang on each end and pretty close to 7" overall.
Cool. We used 7" pulls on a modern condo building we built for Regina, Canada. I was surprised how huge they looked in-hand compared to installed on the drawer fronts and door slabs.

I like the soffit/bulkhead delete w/ the crown wrap. 8' or 9' ceilings?

Does your glass tile have a color to it throughout or just on the back side?

He spends WAY too much time with the dogs. :jump:
:jump: Last night he was doing barrel rolls over Bella. He also likes to sit on her like she is a horse. He will get their food container out of the drawer, and feed them pebble by pebble. Lots of amusement, we are never bored.

That is the kind of stuff that I look forward to with kids. :clapping:

When I got these, they looked huge in the store, and then I got home and tested and the looked pretty good. Any smaller and I don't think I would have liked them.

Ceilings are 8', and that was one of the reasons I wanted to get rid of the soffit, it was ugly. It feels like the room is bigger without them, plus getting rid of the wall oven helped tremendously. The entry into the kitchen is cramped enough.

They are clear (well, glass clear = faint greenish tint) with white backing. They came out pretty good. I still haven't chosen the final backing for behind both sinks and the stove. Currently, I just have wrapping paper cut to size. Im trying different things out to find a color/pattern that I like.
