Kitchen remodel

Demo done. Electrical mostly done - still need to staple wiring to ceiling joists and neaten up the wiring somewhat, and a couple other things that have to wait until cabinets start going in. Last week was in the mid-90s and it was so hot in the attic I decided to wait till this week...in the 70s! 1.5" wide 3/4" red oak going down in kitchen to match the rest of the house, right at 75% done, should take a few more hours to complete. Temporary rigged kitchen stinks, but there really isnt any other option...gotta have a sink, microwave, oven, and fridge. Pics arent great.

Thanks for the link! I don't see a video yet, but I'll keep an eye out for it. We're still waiting on word from Brian's branch manager. Over the weekend I looked online for a few houses at Campbell.

This is the only one I found that sparked my attention. Ideally we'd like several acres, but having a kid has made us rethink living in a subdivision isn't a horrible thing.

Thanks. Im just glad the demo is done with. Absolutely the worst part of the job.
Agreed. I hate demo.

I hope that I never again have to install such narrow hardwood. At least it isnt hard, just goes so slowly.
I can imagine. I dislike really narrow flooring. 2.25" seems to be the ideal between aesthetics and installation.

Demo is fun. :puzzled: Cleaning up sucks though...
What have you demo'd that was fun?

I love some of the really deep, rich colors (like deep reds for a dining room, and some of the dark greys and tans), but with 8' ceilings and not humongous rooms, it is tougher to pull off those colors without it feeling cramped.

It is this color, although this pic makes it look more yellow than it really is.

Also in the bathroom (the upper half above the chair rail).

At least it will match the rest of the house, and once it is down, it does look good, just takes forever. I do prefer the wider ones though, I think they look great, and if we ever build, I will definitely go with something wider. Is yours 2.25"? I looked back at your pics, and it looks even wider than that...amazing how much an extra 3/4" adds.

THis is what we ended up doing:

Its awesome for using the penninsula as a work area. Just pull the garbage drawer out slightly (garbage in front, recycling in back), an sweep the waste right off the penninsula into garbage. Same with cleaning crumbs off of bar since we have bar stools on the other side now.
Wow very nice! Any updated pics of your remodel?

In the demo pics, it looks like there's some HVAC in that bulkhead over the wall cabs, but in the before pic, I don't see any registers or grills. Is the bulkhead for HVAC?

What you see is the vent for the original range hood. I will be slightly rerouting it to hook up to my new over the range microwave.

Edit: Actually, Im not sure what you are looking at, because I had removed the vent ductwork in the demo pics. the only thing I can guess is that you are seeing the insulation, which has a foil/metallic type covering. The vent ductwork is in the same spot, but I cut it off up in the attic so you cant see it.
