$10K Fridge .
The retail on my appliances was as follows:
$9500.00 48" commercial grade Stainless Steel gas oven/cooktop
$1350.00 Stainless Steel hood
$5800.00 48" Built-in Stainless Steel Refrigerator
$2800.00 30" convection oven/microwave
$450.00 Stainless Steel warming drawer
$1399.00 Stainless Steel dishwasher

Guess I was thinking of the range, not the fridge. Fridge only retailed for $6k.

My parents kitchen has a huge island and they picked some spiffy granite and it was only $2500ish for two slabs,
For $2500, it wasn't spiffy granite. There are several factors in stone.

You buy as many slabs as needed. Whole slabs, you get no credit for remnants.
You pay fabrication costs based upon edge treatment in linear feet, and the number/shape of openings required in it.
You pay installation (granite is relatively light, so could be a self-install.

WTF is wrong in the SW.

I bought granite based on square footage needed, regardless of remnants.
Price included one of two simple edges. Sink, and hole were free.
Installation was included in the sq ft cost.

Measure the sq-ft of granite needed. Multiply by 26. That's your price.

Yes, it was/is.

Having visited most of the stone yards in the valley, I'd like to know where they got spiffy granite for so cheap. Granted, a good deal of the cost is in the fabrication/install (with profit built in for fabricator), but the material itself isn't cheap. I only had two slabs, and mine installed was $4200 IIRC. Fabrication was less even on mine because there is no edge lamination/special finishing, just solid, FAWKING HEAVY slabs.

HD was substantially more. There are hundreds of different granite installers/kitchen remodelers in metra ATL. I picked up the phone and started getting quotes.
There are some pretty stones out there. They are fawking insane expensive though. I was ALMOST swayed into Granite again, but I hate granite. PITA it is.

I fear for scooter's light-colored granite when Scooter Jr. leaves koolaid rings on it because the sealer dun really seal all that well no matter how many applications you put it on. Granite needs to be dark, or have so many patterns to it that it masks the stains. Problem with a highly polished dark piece of stone is that you see every fawking speck of dust, scratch, and mineral etching. That's why I don't have granite.

Spiffy is relative. I kind of think of granite as having 5-10 colors/styles that are very common. They chose a type that I have never seen before, nor had the granite people. It had come in on their last truck, and was the first time they had ever gotten that style. It wasnt the most expensive on the lot, but it wasnt common. Keep in mind how much cheaper stuff like that is out here, as well. You live in Phoenix, we are in TN. Finlay is in GA. Lower COL, less expensive materials.

No pot filler. Not needed when the stove is roughly 2' from the sink.

I fear for your cabinets when your daughters decide to draw on them with their Crayola's.

Hard to draw on things twice with a broken hand..

Oil-based paint, laquer finish on mine. Should clean up fine.

Do you have a woodworker's supply near you? DON'T build your cabinet frames out of plywood you get at your local big box store.

Yeah, a couple of nice lumber yards. My uncle gets wood from them when he is building furniture for people.

I didn't even know they made material as nice as the stuff my cabinet builder used. That plywood is the chiznitz. The "furniture grade" junque they sell at home Depot shouldn't even be considered plywood by comparison. I've got some scraps of it he left somewhere, I'll try to see if I can find them for a cross section shot.

sounds like the nice baltic birch that's available

$10K Fridge

My granite was $26/sq ft (3cm, bullnose, installed with a sink). It went into a second slab. Find a place that charges by the sq-ft.

I think it can be done for under $10K if he watches his pennies.
subzero = ~$10k but that's about as highend as you'd ever go and that is rare.

If you were trying to get a good deep red wall color..... ALWAYS paint with a dark grey primer first. Otherwise you end up with what you have there regardless of the qty of coats used.
