Jeep Commander gets stuck in a little snow...

If you notice I stopped my WJ, got out, snapped a few pictures, got back in, and kept driving... If it's only momentum keeping him going then he has to limit the distance he's traveling in snow... with the WJ I just pointed the wheels where I wanted to go and it took me.

In stock trim the wife's Commander is so low I can't slide under it to get to the oil drain plug. Remember I weigh 150lbs. The floor jack will barely fit under the front cross member to jack it up. I've had cars with more ground clearance.

Not all snow is created equal.

Sometimes around these parts, the only vehicles that are moving through the snow are those with at least twice the ground clearance of stock 4WD vehicles.

After a second look at that picture... it may also be the fact that the ground isn't exactly solid. It looks like a hayfield, whereas Joe's picture, it looks like he's on grass.

I was impressed I was able to slide my entire body under my WJ with the stock 'up-country' suspension... I had to be on my back of course.

i still don't understand why they didn't make the commander a fullsize suv based on a truck frame. They really missed out on having a new wagoneer.

Isn't the Durango on a truck frame? Could they not have put something the size of a tahoe or expedition on the durango chasis?

Fiercely mediocre

Your asking Chrysler to be logical. Silly man.

Also, Turdrango will share the weird ass car platform the WK will be on in the next year or so. I doubt we'll see new any truck platform based Jeeps in the foreseeable future.

I guarantee you that his QT WJ (open diffs), with stock tires on it, would have gotten stuck too.

THIS.

That XK is QTII. Joe's WJ is QD. That is the difference maker... not the snow. If it were a XK/WK with QDII, different argument.

My WJ had the most advanced 4WD system ever created by Jeep - Select-Trac, and I was in 4-High in those pics.

Nice :rockz:

I had the XJ in snow even higher then that and it wasn't performing as well as the WJ but still no trouble getting through 'impassable' streets... That Commander wouldn't have a chance.
